ArticlePacking
An ArticlePacking defines a specific packaging form for an article — the physical container or unit in which a commodity is handled, stored, or transported. Examples include "25 kg bag", "1000 kg big bag", "IBC container", or "bulk (loose)". Each packing variant can carry a standard weight (tare weight of the packaging itself), which is used at the weighbridge to automatically calculate net weight from gross weight when the packaging is weighed together with the goods.
ArticlePacking is referenced on contract positions and transaction positions to specify how the goods in that position are packaged. This matters both for logistics planning (how many pallets or containers are needed) and for quality and traceability purposes (certain certifications or buyer specifications require goods to be delivered in specific packaging forms). The system can use the packing's tare weight to automate the net weight calculation during intake weighing, reducing manual input and measurement error.
